Marion County Coroner asks the public for help identifying deceased person

The body was found earlier this week in the 3400 block of North Leland Avenue.

INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities in Indianapolis are seeking help from the public in the effort to identify a deceased person.

On Friday, the Marion County Coroner's Office said the identity of a man that was found on Sept. 30 hasn't yet been determined.

He was found in the 3400 block of North Leland Avenue, which is just east of the intersection of North Emerson Avenue and 34th Street.

The body was in an advanced stage of decomposition when it was found in a wooded area, the coroner's office said, and they haven't been able to estimate age range, weight or determine race.

The man was wearing a black size XL short sleeve t-shirt, black size 34 Jordan Craig cutoff shorts, black size 11 Nike Air shoes, a necklace with a dog tag-shaped pendant and the image of a female with the writing "Forever Us Never Them" and a black ring. A partial view of a left forearm tattoo may read "Indianapolis."
