Man hospitalized after fire destroys northeast Indianapolis home

The fire was reported shortly after 5 a.m. Monday in the 8300 block of Aspen Court, near North Franklin Road and 42nd Street.

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a fire destroyed a home on Indianapolis' northeast side early Monday.

The fire was reported shortly after 5 a.m. Sept. 9 in the 8300 block of Aspen Court, near North Franklin Road and 42nd Street. 

Responding crews found heavy fire coming from the home upon arrival and a male occupant of the home outside. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with burn injuries, IFD Battalion Chief Ted Waldroup told 13News.

Officials did not specify the severity of the man's injuries.

Waldroup said there were working smoke detectors inside the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
