INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The victim of a high-profile hostage situation four decades ago is telling his story.
Say the name Tony Kiritsis and many Hoosiers remember the hostage crisis that kept them glued to their TV sets for almost three days.
The drama played out downtown on live television in 1977. The deranged and desperate Kiritsis grabbed businessman Dick Hall from his downtown office and paraded him through the streets. Kiritsis wired a shotgun around Hall's neck.
Hall has never talked about the long ordeal - until now. He tells his story in a new book titled "Kiritsis and Me: Enduring 63 Hours at Gunpoint."
"Well, I think among other things, I'm 80 years old and if I'm going to tell the story I better do it," Hall said. "I think one of the main reasons is one of my sons said, 'Dad, I don't want my kids to think of you as a wimp or I can't tell the story,' and that made a big difference to me."
The book hits the market in April for the 40th anniversary of the hostage drama.
Kiritsis died in 2005.
