INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The Madam Walker Legacy Center is celebrating the progress it has made restoring the historic building back to its glory.
It was built in 1927 and renovated once before in the 80s.
That's why they're restoring the first floor theater and the 4th floor, where events will be held.
"We are very proud to keep the legacy of Madam Walker alive, who chose to come to Indianapolis because it's the crossroads of America, to build her business and leave us a legacy for all of us to celebrate, especially in the African American community," said Judith Thomas, the president of the Legacy Center
The renovation is expected to be finished by late December or early January.
