INDIANAPOLIS — On the day after Christmas, many people continued to hit the stores. It's time to return gifts and snag those leftover holiday deals.
On Mass Ave, many of the small businesses were closed, but that didn't stop shoppers from seeing what stores were open.
"We just did our friend Christmas, and now we are going to a restaurant," Emmaline Hirschten said. "There are more people out on Mass Ave than I thought there would be."
Although many people may be heading to the stores to return gifts, others are out looking for the deals.
"I love Christmas shopping and shopping in general,” Jon Sanders said. “I love going shopping after Christmas because usually there are a lot of sales from people trying to get rid of things."
At Mass Ave Knit Shop, they have a special holiday sale going on.
"We have, for a number of years, done a big after-Christmas sale,” owner Susan Brennan said. “It's a big sale my customers wait for. Our return policy is actually for in-store credit, so people will come in and trade for different colors or different yarn, but really the day after Christmas for us will be busy because people will be purchasing."
The long lines at stores don’t stop shoppers from browsing.
"Definitely longer than most normal days, but it's definitely worth it because there is a lot of good sales, and you can get a lot of good things after Christmas," Sanders said.
