Indy restaurant donates percentage of sales to HVAF after massive building fire

Hoagies & Hops, located in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood, donated 15% of their Saturday food sales to the HVAF fire assistance fund.

INDIANAPOLIS — One week after a devastating fire at the Indianapolis HVAF building displaced dozens of military veterans, one local restaurant stepped up to help

Hoagies & Hops, located at 4155 Boulevard Place in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood, held a special event Saturday in which 15% of their food sales were donated to HVAF fire assistance fund. 

The restaurant raised $1,000 from the fundraiser.

Hoagies & Hops also collected non-perishable food, clothes and hygiene products for the displaced veterans.

"It's community coming together. I mean these heroes, they are heroes for a reason. They served our country, and we want to be there to also thank them," said Kristina Mazza, the restaurant's owner.

The restaurant said it plans to keep their donation box for food, clothes and toiletries open throughout the week.
