Expect downpours and some thunderstorms to increase later tonight and we're expecting banding of heavy rainfall during the Friday morning commute and likely lasting into midday. It's possible there may two or three bands of heavy rainfall (3"-5"+) the next 24 hours. One within feeder bands associated with the circulation of Cindy and another along an approaching cold front.
Stay weather aware with a Flash Flood Watch issued for the southern half of the state that goes from 8am to 8pm Friday. It's very possible this may be expanded farther north. Due to the wind shear from Cindy's circulation...some spin-ups are also possible Friday and we'll need to monitor for possible Tornado Warnings.
A cold front and wind shift to the northwest Friday afternoon/evening pushes widespread rain away and delivers refreshing air for the weekend. After sweating through oppressive dewpoints in the 70s the next 24 hours you can expect comfortable air lasting through the weekend.
Much of the weekend will be mainly sunny. But colder air aloft and strong late June sun may trigger isolated late day showers/storms Sunday into Tuesday of next week - Sean Ash
