Libby German's mom grateful for Delphi murder investigators, prays for justice

Carrie Timmons thanked investigators and said she prays every day for justice.

DELPHI, Ind. (WTHR) - On the one-year anniversary of the discovery of the bodies of of Libby German and her friend Abby Williams in the woods near Delphi, Libby’s mom held a vigil for the girls.

In front of the Carroll County Courthouse Wednesday evening, Carrie Timmons thanked investigators and said she prays every day for justice.

"This is about the girls, that's it,” she told the crowd of about 30. “We want to find this killer."

Timmons said she wants to eventually help other families coping with loss.

"You have no idea how hard it is to find a grief counselor for this specific situation," Timmons said. She said she would like to start a foundation in her daughter's memory to help others facing the loss of a family member to crime.

"In true Libby fashion, I want to help others and provide advocacy, counseling, alternative means of investigation," said Timmons, who traveled from her home in Kentucky to mark the anniversary of murders.

"It's a sad day. I miss her a lot. It's bittersweet because it's good to see all the community and people that really still care, even a year later," Timmons said.

One woman at the vigil said she came all the way from Canada to show her support.

Meghan Lany-Ferguson said she followed the case the entire year and had become friends with Timmons, despite the distance between them.

"I grew up in a small town just like Delphi and this could have been me and my best friend," said Lany-Ferguson. "It could be my daughter and her best friend and that's what really sticks out to me."

Timmons says she worries what happened to her daughter and Abby will happen again.

"The longer he's out there, it's closer to happening again," said Timmons.

That's why she hopes someone soon will come forward with the right information.

"I didn't think we'd be here a year later. I thought we'd be celebrating justice right now," said Timmons.

Police said they have received 300 tips since Tuesday. Investigators have said they believe someone out there knows the suspect and they hope that person will have the strength to call police.
