60-year-old woman killed in crash on Pendleton Pike in Lawrence

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday.

LAWRENCE, Indiana — A woman was killed in a crash on Pendleton Pike in Lawrence Thursday evening. 

According to a release from the Lawrence Police Department, shortly before 6 p.m. Aug. 15, officers responded to the area of Pendleton Pike and Bittersweet Lane, near Carroll Road 700 West, on a report of a crash involving two vehicles. 

Medics arrived on scene and pronounced a woman dead. On Friday, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the woman as 60-year-old Sarona Manu.

Police said a cause of the crash has not yet been determined and that accident investigators had responded to the scene.

Officers were also interviewing witnesses to the crash. Police noted that there are no traffic lights at that intersection. 

INDOT is planning upgrades to much of Pendleton Pike due to a higher risk of severe crashes on the road.
