The "Lauren Spierer missing" signs around Bloomington are a constant reminder of a now almost-year-old mystery.

Now Bloomington police want to know if Lauren's case is tied to a missing Louisiana student's disappearance.

"That's a little eerie, yeah eerie," said two students when we showed them photos and facts in two missing student's cases. Cases with real similarities.

Lauren's story is a lot like Michaela Shunick's. She went missing May 19th in Lafayette, La., and now Bloomington police want to compare notes with police there.

The Louisiana college student also left a friend's house alone at about 2 in the morning. Lauren left her friend's townhome alone about 4:30 a.m.

Both girls are blonde, both petite, with two inches difference in their height. Lauren weighs 95 pounds, Mickey 115.

And in both cases, white crew cab pickups are picked up by security cameras near where each woman disappeared.

"That's creepy," said two IU students.

Bloggers like a Florida private investigator point to 12 cases of petite white females missing around the the U.S., including Holly Bobo of Tennessee.

And many disappeared on a day with a three in the date, like the 3rd or 13th.

"I would say it's a coincidence. I totally agree," a Bloomington couple said. But others are not so sure.

"I think it's a little scary," said IU student Stephen Ragan. "I don't understand how these things can keep happening. It makes you think you have to be really safe when you go out at night. Go with a good groups of friends."

Not long after Lauren disappeared, Bloomington police were sure they located the white crew cab. They identified the owner and said he was driving in the area picking up a worker at that hour.

The pickup in the Louisiana case has not yet been identified.
