INDIANAPOLIS — 2:45 p.m. update - The number of customers without power went down to less than 600.
2:39 p.m. update - The Indiana State Fairgrounds are back open because power has been restored:
2:23 p.m. update - AES issued a statement explaining what happened:
"The outage was caused by a fault in our substation that was quickly isolated. We are working on restoring the remaining 3700 customers without power. The majority of customers were restored within 30 minutes. "
2:15 p.m. update - The number of customers without power went down to about 3,700.
2:02 p.m. update - The number of customers without power went down to about 4,600.
1:41 p.m. update - The number of customers without power went down to 13,000.
AES said on Twitter:
"We are actively addressing a large-scale power outage in the northeast quadrant of the city. Crews are working to restore service to all affected customers with safety as our top priority. Please report any hazards to 317-261-8111."
1:39 p.m. update - The number of customers without power had grown to more than 26,000.
AES Indiana has more than 15,000 customers without power as of 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 15, 2024.
The outage appears to stretch from Geist and Castleton in the northeast down to the area around the Children's Museum on the north side.
The Indiana State Fairgrounds has canceled all activities while the power outage continues.
