A Lafayette driving school instructor died at the hospital around 3 a.m. Sunday from injuries sustained in a crash that happened on the clock.

69-year-old Paul L. foster was an instructor at the All-Star Driving School. He was instructing 15-year-old Joseph William Reddock IV at the time of the crash.

The investigation found that Reddoch, a student driver and also of Lafayette, was traveling south in the left lane of U.S. 52 South approaching Country Road 975 E. When he slowed to make a left turn onto the road, a southbound pickup truck, driven by 24-year-old Nicholas S. Salem of Michigantown, struck the car from behind.

Foster was taken to St. Elizabeth East Hospital and later died. Reddoch was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital where he was treated and released. Salem was not injured in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
