KOKOMO, Ind. (WTHR) - Kory Kennedy runs through Kokomo dressed as Batman, complete with the mask and cape.
It’s the former local high school runner’s unique way of staying in shape for his schedule of 5K’s and other competitions.
Left legally blind from a car crash when he was in elementary school, Kennedy focused on the one sport he could enjoy, according to WTHR’s newspaper partner at the Kokomo Tribune.
He not only ran all through high school, but also international blind sports competitions that put him on the radar (bat pun intended) of the U.S. Paralympics organization, and qualified for the 2012 Paralympic Games, although he didn’t compete in London due to funding.
The Batman costume helps him keep warm while training through the winter.
“It was about a year ago that I decided to upgrade by adding the cape to it,” Kennedy told the Tribune.
His favorite Batman actors are Christian Bale and Val Kilmer.
So while continuing to pursue something he loves, Kennedy hopes to make others smile.
