Court documents say a man suspected of shooting four people in downtown Kokomo told police he believed the victims were trying to kill him.
A probable cause affidavit states a friend of 36-year-old Turama Stitts told police that Stitts was off his medication for several days and was acting strangely before he allegedly killed two people and wounded two others.
The Kokomo Tribune reports that Howard County prosecutors filed a second murder charge against Stitts on Friday following the death of 64-year-old David Gibson, who was shot Wednesday.
Stitts already was charged with murder in the shooting death Thursday of 48-year-old Argena Williams. The two other victims remained hospitalized Friday and Stitts was charged with attempted murder in those shootings.
An arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
