KOKOMO, Ind. — Police in Kokomo are investigating after a woman was killed in a three-car crash Thursday morning.
The crash was reported around 8 a.m. Sept. 5 at the entrance of Riley Modern Estates in the 2700 block of North Washington Street, south of County Road 300 North.
The Kokomo Police Department said a preliminary investigation indicated a 32-year-old Kokomo woman driving a Kia compact car was attempting to turn south from Riley Modern onto Washington Street when it was struck by a 2020 Dodge pickup truck driven by a Kokomo man.
The crash caused the Kia "to spin and flip upside down in the northbound lanes" and the Dodge "continued southbound, striking a tree and a residence," a Kokomo PD spokesperson said in a statement.
A 1997 Dodge pickup truck driven by another Kokomo man attempted to avoid the Kia, but struck the overturned car on the driver's side door before hitting a curb and coming to a stop.
The 32-year-old Kia driver, identified as Jade A. Carlisle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A blood draw was taken of the other drivers, which is standard procedure.
Indiana State Police, the Howard County Sheriff's Department and Howard County County Coroner's Office are involved in the investigation.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6.
Anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to contact accident investigator Michael Riley at 765-456-7000, ext. #8436.
