Keeping New Year's Eve celebrations safe and secure

Two local Indianapolis clubs are sharing what they're doing to keep their New Year's events safe.

INDIANAPOLIS — It's almost New Year and area restaurants and bars are ready to welcome people to celebrate in a safe way.

"The club will be full, and it will be rocking" said Jeff Markowicz, Skyline Club General Manager.

Local businesses have big plans to ring in the new year. Two of the hottest events in the city are happening right downtown. The Skyline Club is hosting the New Year's Eve Sneaker Soiree.

Markowicz said after 40 years the club knows a thing or two about hosting parties.

"It's a great tradition. The Skyline Club is about building tradition and relationships. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night and should be a lot of fun," Markowicz said.

And just streets away on N. College Avenue, the co-owner of BlankUS Luxury Lounge, Gene Allen, said they're also preparing for their New Year Party.

"I believe we will have a great time tomorrow. The atmosphere is going to be electric. We are going to have free toast tomorrow. We are going to have great entertainment and great energy and great vibe tomorrow," Allen said.

With both venues each expecting hundreds of people they've each put safety measures in place to handle the crowds. Safety measures that include a little extra security at Skyline.

"It's communication that's the biggest thing, from downstairs to coming up the elevator and crowd control. it's really all about communication," Markowicz said.

"What we have is three exits from the second floor. We have the normal exit. The back wall exit. Then we get on the first floor there's three exits down there," Allen said.

Neither of them want anything to get in the way of guests starting the new year off right.

"We have to be safe especially these days," Markowicz said.

"Because that's what we are about. We want to have good clean fun and be safe as well," Allen said.

It's not too late to get tickets to the events.
