COLUMBUS (WTHR) - The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department welcomed a new deputy Monday. K9 Deputy Diesel received his badge during a ceremony at the Bartholomew County Commissioner's meeting.
Last fall, Dylan Prather, who is a part-time college student and part-Bartholomew County Dispatcher heard that the Sheriff's office needed a second K9 Unit.
Prather began a fund raising campaign.
Dylan received a check in the amount of $18,000.00 from Real World Testing that allowed the Sheriff's Office to purchase a second K9.
Diesel will serve Bartholomew County with his partner Deputy Matt Bush.
