Jewish, Muslim advocacy groups host Indianapolis event calling for a ceasefire in Gaza

The event at an Indianapolis coffee shop was done mainly with the idea of helping children process the effects of the war.

INDIANAPOLIS — An interfaith alliance held an event Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis, calling for an end to fighting in the Gaza strip.

Jewish Voices for Peace joined forces with the Indiana Muslim Advocacy Network at a local coffee shop on Sunday, Dec. 10.

One of the organizers said it's devastating to see the impact the war is having, especially on children.

"We just want kids to have a chance to live freely, to live safely, and to be able to go to bed at night in a warm home free from the fear of bombing," said Malkah Bird, one of the organizers with Jewish Voices for Peace.

People and children had a chance to create artwork, enjoy books by both Palestinian and Jewish authors, and write letters to ask lawmakers to support a permanent ceasefire.
