New York Jets Lineman Nick Mangold honored the New York Police Department (NYPD) in a simple, but poignant way Sunday before the team's match up with the New England Patriots.
Mangold walked into MetLife stadium wearing an NYPD baseball cap, in honor of two fallen NYPD officers who were killed in their cruiser Saturday by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, a 28-year-old man who vowed online to shoot two "pigs" in retaliation for the police chokehold death of Eric Garner
"Every one of those guys that's out there, they risk their lives every day," Mangold said. "They go out there to keep the community safe and for that to happen to those two guys, their families, that's a raw deal. If wearing that (cap) gives them a little bit of comfort or shows support for those folks, I'm happy to do it."
