MARION, Ind. — Indiana State Police troopers are investigating a fatal crash in Grant County Friday evening.

According to a release from ISP, shortly before 5:30 p.m. on March 22, state police, along with the Marion Police Department, responded to a two-car crash on Western Avenue, near 4th Street in Marion.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a crash between a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan and a 1989 Ford Ranger. The driver of the Grand Caravan was identified as a 19-year-old male from Marion, while the driver of the Ford Ranger was identified as 56-year-old James Miller\, of Marion.

Miller was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

ISP's preliminary crash investigation showed that the 19-year-old man was driving his Grand Caravan southbound on Western Avenue. When he approached 4th Street, evidence showed he continued southbound until reaching the intersection and struck the Ford Ranger on the drivers' side.

The 19-year-old reportedly sustained minor injuries. A passenger was also in the Grand Caravan at the time of the crash. They were uninjured, according to ISP.

State police say the investigation is currently ongoing.
