IUPD: 4 pedestrians, including 2 IU students, injured in Bloomington car crash

IUPD responded to a crash with injuries at the intersection of East 17th Street and Eagleson Avenue just before midnight Saturday.

INDIANAPOLIS — Four pedestrians are injured, including two Indiana University students, after a car crash in Bloomington Saturday night.

According to an IU spokesperson, IUPD responded to a crash with injuries at the intersection of East 17th Street and Eagleson Avenue just before midnight on Nov. 9.

A vehicle heading westbound on 17th Street hit four pedestrians in the road. Officials confirmed that two of the pedestrians were IU students and the other two are not affiliated with the university.

Authorities said the driver, who also has no IU affiliation, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

Police said they have no evidence that suggests the driver was under the influence of alcohol or other drugs at the time of the crash.

According to an IU spokesperson, all four pedestrians were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said three of the pedestrians are expected to survive, while the fourth is in "critical but stable condition."
