BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WTHR) - This year's IU Dance Marathon raised over $4.25 million for the Riley kids.
The total was revealed Sunday morning at $4,257,143.23.
Since 1991, the marathon has become the second-largest student-run philanthropy project in the world, raising more than $40 million for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
The marathon has provided funding for the Ryan White Center for Infectious Disease at Riley.
New monies raised this year will begin funding other areas of the hospital in need of our support, according the marathon's website.
More than 4,000 IU students stay awake and stand on their feet for 36 hours as part of the marathon.
