INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police is looking for a 14-year-old boy from Cass County, and a Silver Alert has now been issued for the teenager.
Investigators from ISP ended up speaking to Bryson Muir's parents, Daniel and Kristen Muir, on June 27.
ISP and Cass County Department of Child Services (DCS) were able to make a site visit at the Muir's home, located on the property of the Servant Leader’s Foundation in Logansport, according to a news release.
Officials said Bryson is still considered missing and endangered.
He's described as being 6 feet 2 inches tall, 185 pounds and has black hair with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange Under Armour shirt and blue jeans.
According to ISP, on Friday morning, June 28, Daniel and Kristen Muir, Bryson's parents, had reportedly agreed to meet with ISP investigators at the Peru Post at noon. ISP says at 11 a.m., just one hour before the scheduled meeting, the Muirs backed out of that agreement, signaling to ISP an unwillingness to cooperate.
The boy is the alleged victim of domestic abuse, and his father is a former Indianapolis Colts player.
Police believe Bryson may have been the victim of domestic abuse at his home on a large property, which is owned by a religious group in Kokomo.
Bryson was last seen June 16 with his mother when they were leaving his grandmother's house in the Cleveland, Ohio, area. His grandmother called the police and provided a photo with Bryson having a black eye as evidence of potential abuse. But when police pulled over the mother just a short time later in Garfield Heights, Ohio, Bryson was not in the vehicle.
The vehicle, reportedly a white 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, belongs to the Servant Leader's Foundation.
A few days later, the Cass County Department of Child Services in Indiana asked ISP to investigate.
"Multiple attempts by DCS to contact mom and dad were unsuccessful,” ISP Capt. Ron Galaviz said. “We too have not been able to contact Bryson's parents, Daniel and Kristen Muir. So, what we're asking for is for the public's assistance."
Daniel Muir played for the Colts for four seasons, the last in 2011.
"We would consider the father, Daniel, a person of interest and somebody that we definitely want to speak to,” Galaviz said. “But again, at the end of the day, Bryson's safety and wellbeing is of utmost importance."
Servant Leader's has several houses and buildings on the Logansport property. There were multiple vehicles visible on the property Wednesday. But the gate at the entrance off U.S. Highway 24 was chain locked, and no one responded to the 13News camera shooting video at the entrance.
State police said Bryson's case does not yet meet the threshold for a Silver or Amber Alert.
"There are certain criteria within the actual statute that we did research,” Galaviz said. “And even though we're considering him missing and endangered, the definition under Indiana law does not meet this situation."
Anyone with information about Bryson Muir's whereabouts, or his parents, is asked to contact the Indiana State Police Peru Post at 1-800-382-0689, call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
