ANDERSON, Ind. (WTHR) - An inmate was found dead at the Madison County Jail Wednesday morning.
Jailers found 56-year-old Loretta Neese unresponsive around 6:40 a.m. in the holding cell where she was being housed with other female inmates. EMTs were called to begin treatment and she was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead.
Sheriff Scott Mellinger has asked State Police to investigate. No cause of death is being released until autopsy and toxicology reports are released.
Neese was being held at the jail after Elwood officers arrested her Tuesday morning for driving on a suspended license as a habitual traffic offender and possession of a legend drug.
