Information technology company looking to make old airport terminal its new home

The old Indianapolis Airport terminal has sat vacant now for almost 10 years, but that may be about to come to an end.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — It looks like Infosys has landed on the old Indianapolis Airport terminal as a location for its new hub, which means anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 new jobs.

The terminal has sat vacant now for almost 10 years, but that may be about to come to an end.

Infosys an India based information technology company has been looking for a location to place its new Indianapolis Tech Hub, and it appears to have settled on the old airport terminal.

"It's prime. You are right along Interstate 465 and Interstate 70. All the major arteries here are on the westside," Wayne Township Trustee Andy Harris said.

Jeneene and Gregg West know all about location, location, location. They are in real estate in Decatur Township.

"I believe as the jobs come, the developers will come, the retail will come and business will be booming here. I've been here my whole life, and I feel like we are finally on the map, and now with these new jobs that will help everyone," Jeneene said.

"Sometimes it's the chicken and the egg. Business wants to see the people. Developers want to see the business, and so this could be just the thing to start all that," Gregg said.

For 10 years, people have wondered what was going to happen to all this land.

"They see all that vacant ground out there," Harris said. "What are they going to see? What will help them with their property taxes? This definitely will bring in tax revenue for us. Great jobs."

"We are just so excited about this," Jeneene added.

"Anytime we are bringing jobs to Indianapolis that is a good thing," Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett pointed out.

And those jobs do not come cheap. Indiana has offered $31 million in incentives.
