IndyGo working to address driver, mechanic shortage

IndyGo says they can work with applicants to get permits and licenses.

INDIANAPOLIS — There's a push underway to hire more drivers at IndyGo.

IndyGo tells 13News they're working to combat both driver and mechanic shortages.

There are bus simulators to help train new drivers, making sure they're comfortable and ready to react on the streets of Indianapolis.

Tim Cox, director of transportation training, said there are plenty of opportunities and IndyGo can help applicants get the right permit and license.

"With the upcoming Purple Line launch and, in the near future, the Blue Line launch, we definitely are looking for great, qualified customer service-oriented people," said Cox.

IndyGo is offering a $3,000 signing bonus. That offer is good through the end of the year.
