INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Indy Parks is updating restrictions at some of its facilities.

Vehicle traffic will again be allowed at Eagle Creek Park beginning Thursday, May 21. Traffic was restricted in April.

Eagle Creek Park will be open 7 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. The park's gate will be staffed to take admission payment or membership card entry starting Thursday.

Some contracted vendors may be open inside the park, but it's best to check with individual businesses beforehand. The park office and other centers on the grounds will remain closed.

Four dog parks will also open Thursday:

  • Broad Ripple Bark Park
  • Gordon Gilmer Canine Companion Zone (Eagle Creek Park)
  • Paul Ruster Dog Park
  • Smock Dog Park

The Garfield Park Sunken Garden is open daily for visitors. Only the park and trail spaces are open. All other amenities remained closed.

Social distancing is still recommended, and Indy Parks advised against group activities and crowding in areas. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should avoid the grounds.

Indy Parks is expected to release a summer schedule of day camps and pool schedules soon.
