The Indianapolis Zoo will permanently close its polar bear exhibit, the zoo announced Monday.
The exhibit was state-of-the-art when it opened in 1988, but is in need of updating.
The zoo's 29-year-old polar bear, Tundra, will be permanently relocated some time after June 22 to the Detroit Zoo. She's been at the Indianapolis Zoo since 1988.
The Indianapolis Zoo is asking everyone to visit their Facebook and Twitter pages to wish Tundra well on her new journey.
