INDIANAPOLIS — In just 10 days, Taylor Swift will perform the first of three concerts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Her fans have been looking forward to this for more than a year.
People around Indianapolis have been busy preparing for Swift's visit on Nov. 1-3. They've got everything covered to welcome the singer and thousands of her fans to the city.
"It's exciting. It's amazing. I've never seen anything like it," said Darin Thomas, a sales associate at Pumkinfish, a gift shop in The Garage Food Hall.
But it's not just the sold-out shows at Lucas Oil Stadium.
There are lots of Taylor Swift-themed events planned for the days leading up to the concerts, like the Eras Drag Brunch at the Skyline Club, Taylor Swift trivia at Four Finger Distillery, and even a free Taylor Swift silent disco at The Garage Food Hall on Oct. 31.
Business owners know "all too well" what it's like hosting big events, but they say these concerts are a game-changer.
"Having an artist like Taylor Swift, who has such a big following coming to a city like this that sometimes people overlook, I think it's going to put us back on the map and bring in all sorts of people into Indianapolis who have never been here before. Hopefully they decide to come back," said Felicia Govan, with The Garage Food Hall.
Getting everything in order for a big event like this can be a heavy lift, but Govan said she believes Indianapolis is the perfect place to do it.
"We are ready for this. We host so many conventions, but like I said, if we can handle the Indy 500, we can handle Taylor Swift," Govan said.
Thomas said Taylor Swift merchandise at Pumkinfish has been flying off the shelves, and they've had to continue to re-order. He's also planning to have raffles and promotions during the Taylor Swift events. He said events like this exceed small business owners' "wildest dreams."
"The economy, phenomenal. I mean hotels, restaurants, I mean it's just like a Super Bowl," Thomas said.
Other events include the Swiftie Par-Tay at the Children's Museum and the Tay-Gate Party at the Indiana State Museum. Govan said the goal is to make sure everyone has memories to share from that weekend even if they're not going to the shows.
"I think if you can't necessarily afford to go to the concert, we have a non-ticketed event. You can come here and dance to Taylor Swift the night before and have a great time with like-minded people. It will be safe, and it will be amazing," Govan said.
