Indianapolis set to be the college basketball capital in 2026

For the second time ever, a single city will host all of the NCAA men's basketball finals in the same weekend.

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA's Division I Men's Basketball Committee is putting all of the men's basketball finals games in Indianapolis in 2026

The city had already been awarded the Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium.

On July 11, 2024, the NCAA announced the Division II and Division III championship games will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Meanwhile, Hinkle Fieldhouse will host the NIT semifinals with the title game's venue still to be announced.

The last time the NCAA had one city host all three championships was in 2013 in Atlanta. The NCAA women's basketball championships were all hosted in the same weekend in Indianapolis in 2016, and again in Dallas in 2023.

"This will be a tremendous celebration of men's college basketball across all three divisions in Indy," said Dan Gavitt, the NCAA's senior vice president of basketball. "When we did this in 2013, we had nearly 8,000 fans watching the Division II and III championship games, and the final two nights of this year's NIT at Hinkle Fieldhouse featured sold-out crowds of more than 9,000 fans. It will be an awesome opportunity for student-athletes at the participating schools, as well as a showcase for the legendary college basketball fans in Indiana."

This is what the schedule will look like:

  • Thursday, April 2 - NIT semifinals at Hinkle Fieldhouse
  • Saturday, April 4 - Men's Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium
  • Sunday, April 5 - NIT Championship at a venue TBD, Division II & Division III Championships at Gainbridge Fieldhouse
  • Monday, April 6 - Men's Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium
