Indianapolis schools using 'Shark Tank' presentations for student projects

Fourth graders at McCordsville Elementary School were tasked with presenting their projects in a pitch to their teachers — similar to the popular reality series.

MCCORDSVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) — Who knew a reality show could inspire classroom projects?

Fourth-graders at McCordsville Elementary School were tasked with presenting their projects in a pitch to their teachers — similar to the popular reality series.

Their inventions include:

  • Magnetic checkers
  • World's coolest beanbag
  • Chapstick holder
  • 3-D board game
  • Pet room with leash, toys, food and water

Also, Hamilton Southeastern High School juniors Yerin Kwon and Antonelle Johnson were challenged to come up with a "Shark Tank" invention for a school project, so they created food menus for the deaf and those with hearing impairments.

"Shark Tank" shows entrepreneurs making business pitches to a panel of five investors — also known as "sharks." The investors can choose whether or not to invest in the company or product.
