Indianapolis Public Schools reveals superintendent finalists

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Indianapolis Public Schools have narrowed down their search for a new superintendent to three finalists.

They are:

Devon Horton (IPS)

Devon Horton - Chief of Schools for Jefferson County Public Schools

Dr. Horton has five years of classroom teaching experience, five years of school leadership experience and four years of district leadership experience.

Aleesia Johnson (IPS)

Aleesia Johnson - Interim Superintendent for Indianapolis Public Schools

Mrs. Johnson has six years of classroom teaching experience, five years of school leadership experience and four years of district leadership experience.

Larry Young, Jr. (IPS)

Larry Young, Jr. - Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education for MSD Pike Township

Dr. Young has seven years of classroom experience, seven years of school leadership experience, and seven years of district leadership experience.

Public interviews of the three will be held Tuesday, June 18, starting at 5 p.m., at the John Morton-Finney Center for Educational Services at 120 E. Walnut St.

Commissioners hope to name a new superintendent by the end of June.

The search is the result of Dr. Lewis Ferebee taking a position as the next Chancellor of the District of Columbia Public Schools.
