INDIANAPOLIS — A new branch of the Indianapolis Public Library just opened in northern Indy.
The 24,800 square-foot Glendale Branch opened Saturday, March 30 at 3660 East 62nd Street, near North Keystone Avenue.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony started at 10 a.m. with live music, animals and more.
"I am delighted to offer a heartfelt greeting to the community as we introduce this extraordinary new facility,” said Jena Mattix, Glendale’s branch manager. “It’s been a long time coming. After spending more than two decades in the Glendale Shopping Center, we are enthusiastic about the Branch having its own independent building. This move will enhance accessibility to our services and collections while eliminating the necessity of property leasing."
The new branch will have drive-up book returns, more access to computers, public transportation and a community room for up to 100 people.
