Indianapolis pastor hopes to reach youth, ex-offenders with internet show

Rev. John Girton just started Community Conversations on Instagram TV to help fight crime.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — An Indianapolis pastor who made headlines living in a tent to protest violent crime has launched his own internet show to reach the masses, especially young people.

Rev. John Girton, affectionately known as Pastor G, just started Community Conversations on Instagram TV to help fight crime.

He gave Eyewitness News a tour of his social media TV studio.

One goal is to give ex-offenders information to improve their quality of life.

Pastor G also knows he can connect with young people using the social media TV. He learned that from his college-aged daughter.

"It's important for us to know what's happening in our community so we can take part and create things of our own," said Faith Girton, a social media guru.

"We want to talk about those coming out of jail not only find the skills to get a job but also the skills to keep a job," said Rev. Girton.

Pastor G and his daughter have already recorded their first episode, which will also focus on current events.
