Putnamville Correctional Facility is currently on lockdown after two inmates killed another inmate in an attack inside a dormitory.
53-year-old Lawrence Harris of Indianapolis died shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Harris was serving a six-year sentence for burglary in Marion County. He was arrested in January 2013 and released on parole May 23, 2016. He was arrested again May 31, 2016 after a parole violation. He had been at Putnamville Correctional Facility since July 6, 2016.
His projected release was April 14, 2017.
Formal charges are anticipated against the two suspects. The facility says their names will be released once they are formally charged.
