Indianapolis - As the community grieves for an eight-year-old boy who was killed by a bullet, the county prosecutor filed charges against the man suspected of pulling the trigger.
Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi filed murder charges against Joshua Germany Monday.
Germany, 27, is accused of killing eight-year-old Jeremiah Williams with a shotgun. He is charged with one count of nurder and two counts of A felony attempted murder.
Police say Germany fired a shotgun into the home of his ex-girlfriend on Wittfield Street last Wednesday evening. The bullets hit Jeremiah Williams and Namar Taylor, 18. A third person was also injured.
Jeremiah's mother told police that Germany had been to her home earlier that day and had attacked her and her boyfriend. Before he left, he allegedly said that he was "gonna spray everybody," according to the woman's statement.
Police say Germany was wanted on a domestic violence warrant as a result of the incident, but later that day, Jeremiah's mother saw Germany standing outside her home when he fired into the apartment. A bullet struck Jeremiah in the head, and he died the following morning at the hospital.
A memorial service for Jeremiah will be held Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 2349 Keystone Way in Indianapolis.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, with a calling from 10:00 am. Family and friends may sign the guest book here.
