INDIANAPOLIS - A three-year-old is in critical condition Wednesday at Riley Hospital for Children, and a 23-year-old man is facing charges.
The boy was taken from the Bridgemont Residence Inn on the Indianapolis south side to Riley with severe but unspecified injuries. Police were called in when hospital officials called concerned about the injuries.
Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Child Abuse section arrested and preliminarily charged 23-year-old Ian Huff of Indianapolis with Neglect of a Dependent and Battery. He is currently being held at the Arresting Processing Center with no bond awaiting the filing of formal charges.
Police say Huff is the boyfriend of the child's mother.
The child islisted in critical condition at Riley Hospital for Children. No other information on the child's injuries or condition will be released.
Police are calling this an active investigation and they say more information will be released "when available and appropriate."
