INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Police and firefighters are working to figure out how a fire started in a home on the east side Wednesday morning, killing one woman and a dog.
Indianapolis Fire Department crews responded to the fire on Kildare Avenue near 20th Street just after 6 a.m.
Firefighters found fire showing from two sides of the single-story home and were able to get it under control in about 10 minutes.
After entering the home, firefighters located a woman in her 60s and a dog, who both died in the fire.
Neighbors say three people live at the home but two had already left for the day.
The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
