Indianapolis EMS orders set of new e-bikes to help with large events

Eight new e-bikes are expected to be added to the IEMS fleet by May.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services is embracing a new technology to help keep people safe in emergencies much quicker.

IEMS says they've ordered a set of eight brand new e-bikes to help paramedics make their way through crowds. A social media post made Wednesday showed off the different models of bikes that are now accessible to IEMS.

Unlike a traditional bike, e-bikes do not require pedaling and are powered by an electric battery.

IEMS says that the e-bikes will be helpful during big events like the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, 500 Festival Parade, and more. They plan to have the bikes fully integrated into their fleet by May.
