INDIANAPOLIS — A fierce activist for ending gun violence in our city was laid to rest Friday.
Ron Gee was shot and killed July 18 at a gas station on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
Family, friends and members of the community gathered at a funeral to remember Gee and to mourn his loss.
Gee's son gave an emotional speech, saying his dad's goal in life was to make a difference in the world.
Gee's sister talked about the organization that Gee founded, Ceasefire Indy, a nonprofit that aims to end gun violence. She said his legacy will live on through that organization.
"We are continuing his legacy because he put a root down for us right now, so we just gotta keep growing and growing," she said.
IMPD said Friday there have been no arrests in the case and that the investigation is ongoing.
