FISHERS, Ind. — Indianapolis Colts tight end Kylen Granson kicked off his second annual "KG's Kids Book Drive" at a local Kroger store on Saturday.
Granson partnered with Kroger once again for the book drive meant to collect thousands of books for local kids.
The Colts tight end said he spearheaded the event because both of his parents were teachers and that reading has been important his entire life. He wants to use his platform to make a difference for local children.
"We thought that a literacy-based program would be the best thing," said Granson. "Kids are always hesitant to get into reading sometimes because they have video games, their phones, they have a lot of different distractions."
"Reading has a lot of statistics behind it that show it will continue to further your growth and be beneficial to you later down the road," said Granson.
Last year's drive collected 60,000 books that were all given to kids in the Indianapolis area.
If you'd like to help donate books to the cause, donation bins have been set up at more than 60 Indy-area Kroger stores.
