A city agency has awarded contracts to build two luxury suites and make other improvements at the home of the Indianapolis Colts.

The Capital Improvement Board approved the $2.1 million project on Monday for Lucas Oil Stadium. The Indianapolis Star reports board members say the project will keep the stadium at a "top-notch level" to attract other events.

Board members agreed with the Colts in April to spend up to $2 million for the work.

The Colts sought the additional two suites and the conversion of two food pantries into small kitchens. The stadium currently has 141 suites, with space for up to six more.

The Colts are separately paying for the addition of two illuminated ribbon message boards for stadium's upper corners. The stadium has two others already.
