OWENSVILLE, Ind. — A southern Indiana man is facing charges for allegedly pointing a loaded gun at his 8-year-old stepdaughter.

Indiana State Police investigators say 24-year-old Austin McGill was caring for the girl and two of his other children at his home in Owensville Sunday morning. Detectives allege McGill struck the girl during an incident, then pointed a loaded firearm at her.

Police said the children's mother was not home at the time.

The Gibson County Prosecutor's Office reviewed the state police investigation and issued an arrest warrant for McGill on Monday, Sept. 9. He is facing charges including pointing a firearm at another person, neglect of a dependent and domestic battery, all Level 6 felonies.

He turned himself into the Gibson County Jail shortly after noon on Monday, where he remained held without bond as of late Monday afternoon.
