Pool worker injured in lightning strike at Fayette County's Roberts Park

The worker was not seriously injured, but they were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ind. — A pool worker was injured in a lightning strike at Fayette County's Roberts Park.

The incident happened Aug. 1.

According to the Fayette Count EMA, workers were busy closing the pool as storms were rolling into the area.

A worker was carrying an aluminum pole when lightning struck right near them.

The pool is in the same area where the county fair was being held.

In a statement from the Connersville mayor, it said in part, "Unfortunately, no watch or warning was issued with this storm. These situations could have been much worse due to the number of people and animals at the fair. We are all thankful that it was not."

The worker was not seriously injured, but they were taken to the hospital to be checked out. They were later released Thursday evening.
