DELPHI, Ind. (WTHR) - State police are again asking people to stop posting photos online of people they believe could be the suspect in the murder of two Delphi girls.

Indiana State Police posted on Facebook Friday to urge people to stop comparing photos of people they believe look like the sketch of a potential suspect. Police previously asked people in July to leave the detective work to the professionals as they work to track down who killed Libby German and Abby Williams in February.

"As we continue the investigation into the deaths of Abby and Libby, please refrain from posting pictures on social media sites of innocent people set side by side with the sketch and picture of the alleged suspect," police wrote. "By doing so, you take away the from the investigation by slandering and possibly hurting those people and their families."

ISP First Sgt. Rich Myers tweeted about the investigation in July, encouraging people with information that may help the case to contact the official tip line, rather than using Facebook or Twitter to exchange photos and theories about the suspect.

"Social media tips may not be seen. May do more harm than good," he wrote.

The investigation reportedly received a boost last week when the families of the girls appeared on "Dr. Phil" to discuss the case, 10 months after Libby and Abby were found dead in a wooded area near Delphi's trail system.

Police say 140 tips were received in less than a day after the show aired.
