Prosecutor receives numerous calls from victims of Jamey Noel, sets up online form for impact statements

Special Prosecutor Ric Hertel said there was a high volume of calls Tuesday and Wednesday morning and thought an online form would be more efficient.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Editor's note: If you believe you are a victim of Jamey Noel, Special Prosecutor Ric Hertel asks you to fill out a victim impact form found here.

People who wish to sign up to speak at Jamey Noel's sentencing hearing are now asked to fill out an online form. 

The prosecutor's office said the volume of calls they're getting are unmanageable and believes an online form would be more efficient.

The form is available online. 

To access the form scroll down below Ric Hertel's name and click "Noel victim impact form."

You can print out the form, fill it out and then scan it and email it to ripleycountyprosecutor@gmail.com. The form is editable in Adobe Acrobat on a desktop computer.

You can also mail a hard copy of the form to P.O. Box 102, Versailles, IN 47042.

All forms of submission are due by 4 p.m. on Sept. 13.

Judge Larry Medlock said on Monday he will not accept Jamey Noel's plea deal until he hears from victims who have been truly impacted by Noel's alleged crimes. The plea deal includes up to 15 years in prison, 3 years of probation after prison, and over $2.8 million in restitution to the Utica Township Volunteer Firefighters Association.

"Victims...have rights. And I'd like to hear from some of the victims, or a lot of the victims, at a date in the future. In regards to whether they believe this is an appropriate sentence," Medlock said Monday.

Medlock specifically mentioned EMS employees who have lost their jobs as people he would like to hear from. 

A date for Noel's sentencing hearing has not been set yet.
