MUNCIE, Ind. (WTHR) — Muncie's first paid African-American firefighter was honored Thursday with a life-sized bronze statue.
The Hurley C. Goodall statue was dedicated at Fireman's Park on Hoyt Avenue in Muncie to honor Goodall for his legacy of public service.
Goodall was hired as a firefighter back in 1958 and went on to serve in the Indiana General Assembly until 1992.
The statue was designed by Hoosier artist Bill Wolfe.
