TIPTON, Ind. — A Kokomo man has died after crashing into a tree in Tipton County Saturday morning.
Police said Harley Mayhew, 40, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on County Road 1125 West, approaching a stop sign at County Road 50 North just before 1 a.m. According to police, the vehicle did not stop at the stop sign and went into a yard, where it crashed into a tree.
Police found Mayhew unresponsive and without a pulse. Despite life-saving measures, medics pronounced Mayhew dead at the scene.
Police said Mayhew was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
