97-year-old World War II veteran staying young on the golf course

Webber LaGrange stays active by playing golf four times a week throughout the summer — and he's pretty good, too!

WESTFIELD, Ind. — On most mornings, you'll find Webber LaGrange out with his buddies.

"It keeps me moving and it keeps me young," LaGrange said. "And I like the camaraderie with these guys I enjoy playing with."

LaGrange plays golf four days a week throughout the summer — and he's pretty good, too! He shoots birdie and par golf and, by the way, he's 97 years old.

His key to a long life is exercise and healthy genes.

"My dad was a month short of 99 when he passed away, so I'm trying to surpass him," he said. "And I'm doing well so far."

LaGrange fell in love with the game of golf years ago. He said the sport keeps him young and so does his sense of humor.

"I brought something for you," he said, handing 13Sports director Dave Calabro a small bottle of Fireball whiskey.

"Is this your secret to getting your golf game?" Dave asked.

"Oh yeah, that's Kickapoo Joy Juice," he said.

"You're an inspiration, do you realize that?" Dave asked.

"No," LaGrange replied. "Just take it a day at a time."
