LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Indiana State Police is urging motorists to stay safe after troopers from the Lafayette Post responded to two separate operating-while-intoxicated crashes Saturday evening.

State troopers arrested two individuals March 9 after both allegedly ran off the road while under the influence of alcohol in separate incidents, according to ISP.

In the first incident, a 23-year-old woman from Reynolds was arrested after she ran off the road in Clinton County. In the second incident, a 37-year-old Lafayette man was arrested after he also ran off the road in Tippecanoe County.

Police say both suspects were taken to county jails on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after they were discharged from their hospitals.

"Ensuring the safety of our communities is paramount. We remind the public to make responsible choices and prioritize the well-being of themselves and others on the road," said Lt. Tom McKee, district commander of the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post.

ISP urges anyone who has consumed alcohol to seek alternative transportation or find a designated driver rather than attempt to drive while under the influence.
